BlackBerry Empire pointed out some very exciting news for BlackBerry developers with the BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha units last night! According to BlackBerry DevBlog’s Twitter account an actual device update isn’t too far off.

Alex K. tweeted: “@BlackBerryDev: We’re getting the update for BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha ready – make sure your requests are in the issue tracker” -http://t.co/BNSYEH15 ^AKDoesn’t get much clearer than that. Honestly I didn’t expect they would issue an update so quickly. But I’m not about to complain. As most users & developers know already the BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha came only with the Browser and Camera apps pre-installed. The idea is for developers to want to use this as a tool and not a “new device” just yet. However there have been some concerns when developing some apps which require access to more features.

Regardless of what RIM brings with this update, it’s difficult not to realize just how clever it was for them to put these devices into the very people’s hands that can truly offer up something unique near the launch of BB10, and not just 6 months after the initial release.

Those who do have a BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha unit please be sure to track and/or leave any issues, requests or feedback to the Developer Issue Tracker here: http://us.blackberry.com/developers/resources/issuetracker/
