The secret to a successful theme nowadays is not a secret at all. But 2 key ingredients are very important. Quality and a creative re-imagining. The Theme Box (new name, seasoned builder) struts into the scene with Social, a theme that looks and feels like Facebook with the added delight of custom skinned BlackBerry icons.

The SVG in Social is hand coded. Judges found navigation to be flush. Along with a full functioning laid out homescreen, it seems this fb style theme has outshined previous attempts at the genre. A quote from a judge said, “the transitions are smooth with no lag.” This area of structure and navigation scored in the 9′s and respectively.

Visual design is really the bread & butter here. From the icons to the colors all our judges had a lot of great things to say. We had some issues with early builds due to the Theme Studio 6 beta2 being used and filled with bugs. Normally in the past we have shied away from products built in beta, but The Theme Box was kind and listened to our concerns to work around these bugs. Social doesn’t lose any points for the beta bugs.

On the function side Social does exceptionally well for a theme with this much going on. The homescreen makes use out of every inch giving users 8 static plus 8 more user defined applications to use. Even the tiny details are very clear. For the size and beauty judges all gave a nod to The Theme Box team. Creative work and a theme users can recommend to friends.

Overall we see big things for The Theme Box team. With Social as their first official release, we can guess it will be wildly popular as well as hold a long shelf life considering the chosen genre. Without a doubt Berryfication will be right there when future products come up to bat and the users will know their name. Only issues were some personal preferences in the theme. For the score Social went big! And a big win for The Theme Box.
