Description:
Blue with lovely glow. Elecite owned this genre and continues to innovate the design and structure all the while maintaining their ground. I knew this would be a big deal when they leaked the first shots of the theme via Facebook and other Social Networks. The ‘prototype 2011′ theme. This is one of the best ad-campaigns I’ve ever seen. There’s actually been some maybe better but what great designers always need to remember is that success doesn’t just come from great products. They must have a word-of-mouth too. And this worked swimmingly.
With some much information placed into different layers and cleverly tucked into folders where more common users might want them, your homescreen structure almost makes the Application view obsolete. Only a need for more than 7 3rd party apps might take you out of this area. Well mapped out. This is what we believe a theme makers dream-come-true would look like. Navigation can be a little tricky on non-touch especially for newer end-users. Sometimes the idea of going from the bottom of the wheel to the top doesn’t pan out exactly as the mind might like it. After lots of time and some input most of us agree you just need to think opposite of where your trying to go. And you’ll jump right to it.
The visual design is inspiring. There’s no doubts about the Elecite team with this theme. It’s very clear they have members on board with plenty of Art training and have achieved recognition for excellence in design. No one is going to cook something like this up over a cup of coffee a laptop and Theme Studio. There’s more to this product than we may even know but the fact is that the beauty is stimulating. It’s not just half finished either. The product is done and well at that.
Back on the functional ideal, yes this is a highly functional product. For some the wheel navigation will take you a bit out of your comfort zone, but it’s not broken by any means. This is just a different way to go from A to B. Most seasoned users will be familiar using non-touch and others who want a product like this will quickly be used to it. Every other nook and cranny is seemingly perfect.
Overall thoughts are yes this is a big achievement for Themes and Elecite all the same. What strikes the fire for us is that not only does the theme function on a level that people can quickly find comfort and usability in, but it does so whilst remaining breathtaking and completely redefining the face of BlackBerry navigation. Major win for Elecite, we can’t wait to see what’s next!
