In 2007, we all had a good laugh. A computer company was going to make a phone; with a touchscreen. The company that was previously on the brink of death, until Microsoft jumped to the rescue with some money, was entering the BlackBerry and Palm owned SmartPhone market. It’s 2012 now, and the only people laughing are working for the richest company in the world.

There’s a special BlackBerry out there. At over $2000, it’s the most expensive stock BlackBerry 9900 you can buy; the BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9981. The reviews have been mixed at best. The basic consensus is that, outside of status, it’s pretty much silly to pay so much more for basically the same phone just because it looks different. Perhaps, though, BlackBerry has made the first step into a whole new market.
It’s been a little while since we had made any cosmetic or performance enhancements to Berryfication. So we thought now would be a great time to do so. Please keep in mind we are still working on other pages.

But for now we’ve optimized the web page for faster loading (we’ll be 10% faster by weeks end), we’ve changed some things in the back end and most importantly we’ve added some new Social Sharing options to each post. New Twitter (Tweet), Pinterest (Pin it), Facebook (Like), & Google Plus (G+) buttons are now at the top and bottom of each post! These look great and work fantastically. Each post has a default image that will appear when you choose to share our posts to your favorite social sites! So spread the word!
We do encourage your comments. Tell us what you like. What you miss or wish for future posts/views. And most of all how you like the new look. Thanks to all our fans, followers, BlackBerry and the developers that keep us thriving. Hope to see you all at BlackBerry World 2012!
Regards, rezn
The best day for BlackBerry users is always a day that includes an update to BBM. Some users don’t like to test out beta versions & some (myself included) love them all! RIM has just released a nice update bringing BlackBerry Messenger to v6.2 [6.2.0.44].

BlackBerry Messenger 6.2.0.44 includes:

° Send Voice Notes more easily back & forth – streamlined Voice Notes allow you to set your convenience key to BBM, highlight a contact (or while in a chat), press the key, record and send.
° Simpler way to change your Name & Personal Message – click on profile and start updating inline.
° Tagging is now even quicker – BlackBerry Tag enhancements allows for automatic invitations and accepting within BBM.
° Improved Contact Search – search will ignore special characters and emoticons to pull up all relevant contacts.

Today RIM kicked off the second generation of the BBM Challenge Council. And we couldn’t be more excited!
Young people across the globe are turning to BlackBerry for their smartphone needs, creating a powerful, vibrant community of fans who are both technology-savvy and looking for new ways to connect in real time. Recognizing the global trend, RIM launched the inaugural BBM Challenge Council Program this past October, which partnered aspiring young adults with some of today’s top celebrity influencers, including Greyson Chance, Whitney Port and Hope Solo.
The new Challenge Council Project is designed to engage with the youth market about how BlackBerry smartphones can help you get things done. Through a series of five webisodes, popular comedic actors/producers Streeter Seidell and Amir Blumenfeld (best known for MTV’s Pranked and CollegeHumor.com) will demonstrate product truths about BlackBerry devices. With the help of special celebrity cameos from some of the top influencers in the youth market — Greyson Chance, Leighton Meester, Dax Shepard, Christina Milian, and Sky Blu from LMFAO — each Challenge Council webisode will examine key functionalities about BlackBerry smartphones while engaging participants in challenges. Winners will receive cool prizes, such as tickets to exclusive events and all-inclusive trips they can share with their friends.

After a couple of the other fan sites laid down posts about the new BlackBerry tablet OS update in-the-works, many users got their feathers ruffled about that pesky side-loading trick we’ve all come so accustomed to.

Apparently Alec Saunders had set a tweet out recently pertaining to the future tablet 2.1 OS update, and the fact it may remove the ability for everyday users to side-load any app they desire. The focus isn’t to remove that feature, it is in fact to protect Android developers from piracy.
Alec Saunders let’s us know that 140 characters just isn’t enough to get his point across, and goes on to say..
We’re not getting rid of side-loading on the BlackBerry PlayBook OS or in BlackBerry 10.
Side-loading on our platform is changing in nature. Side-loading is a developer feature. It exists so that developers can load their apps onto their own devices to test. It’s there so developers can send a beta release to their testing community for review. It is definitely not there for some people to side load a pirated app.
What are we doing?
Starting with our next release of the BlackBerry PlayBook OS, we’re introducing a feature that will encrypt apps so they can only be run by the user who purchased the app.
What’s next?
We’re working with you, our developer community, to ensure you can still quickly and easily test your apps on real hardware. That’s one of the reasons we’re kicking off BlackBerry 10 Jam by giving each developer attendee a prototype device to start building on. I’ll be on-hand at the show to answer your questions – look forward to seeing you there.
Let’s Jam.

BB10 – All the Hype that Money can Buy
Written Exclusively for Berryfication.com by Greg Wesson [@lombaki]

I’m ready for BB10, but I just bought myself a Bold 9900. I said I was going to hold out for BB10 and skip BB7. Having been off contract since the beginning of 2010, I bought my 9780 outright and wanted to get 2 full years out of it. That would have happened in November and would have made a nice transition. I think I got Jonesed. Maybe Berried.
I’m sure a lot of Berry faithful are looking forward to BB10. We kind of feel like we’ve paid our dues using the decade old Java-based BBOS and deserve the upcoming Berry revolution that is founded on the upcoming QNX OS. We have seen mock up devices, the leaked marketing pics that don’t necessarily represent the actual OS, and we will get a look at the BB10 Dev Alpha prototype soon enough. All of those things build hype and hope for the resurrection of RIM and the restoration of BlackBerry to the status of “cool.” Quite frankly, I don’t care if my device is “cool”; I care if it works for me. Others, however, want Berrys to return to their glory days and they have bet the farm, perhaps literally if they are investing in the stock, on BlackBerry10, the POSIX-based OS that QNX is developing for BlackBerry smartphones to be released late in the year. What do we have to base our hopes on though? The PlayBook OS? Some tweets from RIM employees about how awesome the OS is? The moded OS we will see in a few weeks at BlackBerry World? Even that isn’t going to be BB10; they told us that. So what are we setting our hopes on? And are we setting them too high?
