Theme Reviews
°°UPDATE: v2.0.18 now includes a glowing banner. Red for missed calls & new email.
I’ll be the first to admit, finding a great theme for your BlackBerry 7 device has become a grueling task. Well regardless of how much work goes into the process, the important thing is today we have another fantastic looking view for our BlackBerry Bold 99xx devices!

MINI_banner is the latest from _Lucky45 [@_Lucky45] with a little help from one of our other favorite builders drkapprentice. Originally built as another sexy theme, the two of them decided to get PlayBook 2.0 icons in this one before everyone else & that’s exactly what’s happened!
Review of BlackBerry Theme “D-light”
Produced by The World of Pootermobile

Pootermobile churns out consistently solid themes with enough variety that there’s one for every Berry user. Recently, he dropped a little ditty called D-light on the Berry-loving world and I have had the honor of using it for the past couple of weeks. As usual when I review a theme, I looked at both form and function; form being the visuals and function being the day-to-day use; both as they apply to me.
bbthemelab has been busy in his lab lately, working on a BlackBerry PlayBook app & 2 hot new themes for BlackBerry 7 users! Both themes are currently for BlackBerry Bold 99xx series devices and will set you back just $0.99!

Seven – Blue (pictured above) is one of my favorite new themes by far. Sure it is simple enough but the subtle changes like the wallpaper, custom skinned calculator & custom bluetooth indicators make all the difference!

Valentine is finally a Valentine’s Day theme I can get down with! Much like the Seven series, this theme features simple but eye-popping tweaks like the red bluetooth indicator, red arrows in menu, red alarm clock indicator, battery, signal & wifi PlayBook indicators push this one above the rim!
MMMOOO busted out a pretty cool theme called Hard Candy recently. Compatibility with OS 4.6 straight up to OS 7.1. 3D-like icons, lots of color laid over a sleek black wallpaper. They were chill enough to share 10 copies with our readers, so I thought we might announce them.

As far as devices go, they’ve covered every device from 6.0 down and then BlackBerry 7 devices specifically Curve 9350, 9360, 9370, Torch 9810, 9850, 9860, then Bold 9900, 9930 & 9981 series.
10 contest winners are…
Nailed it! BBThemes took the stock 7.x OS tray style and hammered down one of the sickest themes I’ve had the pleasure of using. Seven Point Five is compatible with BlackBerry Bold 99xx series and has been on my device 99% of every day since he sent it over.

Admitting I am very snooty when it comes to my themes. I don’t mind the stock theme on BlackBerry 7 now, but I prefer to have the option to change the look of my device at any given second. Seven Point Five combines the look of the PlayBook OS2 icons/folders, BBM Music plus some sexy custom features most of you have never seen before..
One of my personal favorite Theme Builders, Pootermobile put together a ravishing new theme! Delicioso – Spanish for delicious is another reminder why we deserve to have themes for all BlackBerry devices.

Delicioso is compatible for all BlackBerry devices running OS 5.0 & OS 6.0! Knowing that many of our fans are still counting on our high quality reviews even those not yet on 7.x OS, we thought we’d better post this tasty treat up!
Good friend and big contributor @SamgbxDesigns pointed out Velvet, the latest theme from pioneer developers Elecite. Damn, it’s just another reminder that RIM has some of the most talented designers behind their products.

Velvet looks delicious. It is however only compatible with OS 4.6 to 6.0. Specific devices can be found in the tags below or the theme itself in BlackBerry App World.
VELVET FEATURES:
° Fluid Performance
° 6 Categories
° 7-9 Customizable Icons
° 16 Quick-Access Photo Icons
° Social Icons
° Weather Slot
° Intuitive Navigation
° Modern Layout Design
When it comes to themes, as I’ve previously mentioned, I’m a functionality guy. I prefer themes that get me shortcuts to my most used apps so I don’t have to go searching through the menu. With shortcuts, I can flip from BBM to SMS to FaceBook to Twitter and back in a heartbeat. It’s one of the things I love about my BlackBerry. Yet BlackBerry users use themes for many different reasons.

Some people use themes to change the layout of the icons. That was key back in the days of BB OS4 and BB OS5. My first theme was a Crossbar theme. I changed my Pearl 8100 from having 6 icons across the bottom to having 10 icons I could scroll through in the center of the screen. I loved it and immediately understood why people loved themes.
For a very limited time, BerryGoodThemes or BGT to many has released Talke a sophisticated new BlackBerry theme. Deep grey, red and laid over a charcoal black/black scheme!

Talke is FREE for approximately 2 weeks. Compatible with all BlackBerry 5.0 & 6.0 devices. Expect some 7.0 love soon. Trust me, he knows how much we (myself included) miss him!
I’ve been asking MMMOOO when, oh when will we start seeing some of your cute BlackBerry themes hit OS7 devices, and finally we’re stoked to say their latest, Hard Candy supports most BlackBerry 7.0 devices!

Hard Candy also supports all other BlackBerry devices beginning with OS4.6 to 7.0. Price $0.99! Specific devices on 7.0 are Curve 9350, 9360, 9370, Torch 9810, Bold 9900, 9930 & 9981 of course.
So many themes flooding up App World still, but most of them aren’t compatible with BlackBerry 7.0 devices? What’s the point really? Let’s be honest even if RIM hasn’t the resources to bring out a TS7 developers have found a way to make it possible. And we’re doing our best to highlight the themes you should download!

Leave it to drkapprenticeDESIGNS & Lucky45 to knock out something basic, but with enough tricked out flare to make your BlackBerry Bold 99xx stand out again! I’m talking about their latest MINI Banner theme & it’s FREE!
Okay this post got a tad postponed, maybe a week or two.. Apologies to those of you waiting for the MMMOOO Christmas Lights theme! We’ll surely make it up to you with more giveaways around the corner!

Besides the themes, we were also lucky enough to nab a few Slacker Premium Radio subscriptions. Each for one-month of their best premium radio service, playable across practically anything you own with an LCD!
