A good friend and fellow hardcore blogger, Susan at BlackBerrySync.com let me know about the Pong Case for BlackBerry Bold 9900-9930 series. I remember reading about Pong first at Case-mate’s site nearly 2 years ago. They we’re working on a case for the BlackBerry Bold 9650 at one point, but the case was never finished.
Now that I’ve had a Bold 9930, Cases and protection have not been an issue. As a matter of fact I may have way too many cases now thanks to the many companies that we’ve made contact with. But you won’t hear me complaining. This just means we have more products to share with our readers.
— Unboxing — Pong sent the Leather Touch Case very quickly. I was actually expecting it to take at least 2 weeks for delivery. The case comes in a very attractive box. Similar to an iPhone packaging. White box opens to reveal your new Pong case, lift the case to find one blue lint-free microfiber cloth & a screen protection kit. Inside the kit was another microfiber cloth and a small card with instructions and a barcode (scan it) to get more info on the case.
— Installation/removal — Putting the case on my Bold was simple. If you’ve ever owned a barely there styled case, you’ll know what I mean. Install: Slide in the side of your device by the volume buttons. Then snap into the case. The case clips over the back of your Bold 9900-9930. The device fits snug inside the clamps over the sides. I found it cool that they even leave some excess on there to protect the screen & keyboard from touching a surface too. Removal is just as simple as installation. Removal: 1st snap off the corner near the volume buttons, then snap off the lower corner on the same side.
— Usage after a few days — Love this case. It’s one of the thickest-barely-styled-cases I’ve ever seen. I’d say this is the 4th or 5th I’ve seen for the 99xx series built in the lightweight-barely style. And while it’s a bit thick, the case feels incredible. It’s soft to touch, shows no scratches or smudges. There were some light grease marks after eating some taco’s last night. A quick swipe across my denim jeans and it was clean again. The textured and stylish leather backing keeps the case looking great. Susan had nothing but compliments for this case. And I’d have to agree. It’s brilliant.

This is awesome! Funny because my first fear about a Pong case was what if it lowers my connection strength? And that fear was quickly thwarted after I used the case for just a couple hours.
