Call me bland or boring but a dark theme is one that will always find a way onto my Blackberry. I love the look it brings to my phone and especially if it is wallpaper friendly as I am an addicted wallpaper junkie, just ask my memory card.

When I was asked to review the latest release by BB Design Worx called Greyscale there was no hesitation in getting it on my phone, especially after their release of the popular i6 theme that also sits on my 9700 I knew their work was up to a very high standard that users expect to see in a Premium Theme.

Along with the release of this theme also comes their new website (www.bbdesignworx.com) where they showcase all their themes plus you can put in a request for a theme idea and they will work to give you the look you want on your Blackberry. This is Customer Service at it’s best and what is needed in today’s competitive theme market.

Greyscale is built from the ground up using black, grey and white colors throughout to give you a unique look that sits ‘grey-ciously’ on your phone. Each Icon is Custom made and very unique and plays very nice with any 3rd party Icons you may be using. The homescreen consists of 18 Icons that slide down and hide away if you scroll up to the Profile Icon that sits neatly in the corner of the top banner to reveal your wallpaper in all it’s glory but BB Design Worx thru me a curveball by including a luscious dark wallpaper with waves of dark grey smoke that I have not changed since I installed the theme. How dare they do this to me and keep me from putting my own wallpaper on my screen?

The top banner is of course black with a custom dark battery meter that includes a percentage indicator which sits neatly in-between the white signal meter and Profile icon which is where you will find the only color to the theme. Each Profile changes color so you know exactly what Profile you have chosen, with ‘Normal’ being the only black color, this feature of using color does not look out of place at all with the concept of the theme and in my opinion it looks just plain ‘cool.’

Just as with their i6 theme, BB Design Worx has included a lot of keyboard shortcuts for those that take advantage of this very useful feature on their Blackberry. The theme drops in at just over 600 kb so it will play very nice with your phone as I found no lag at all and to help this there are no page transitions that can bog your phone down. With 18 Custom user defined homescreen Icons that can be hidden, richly luxurious wallpaper and custom message indicators, BB Design Worx has put together another theme that has found a permanent place on my phone, right next to their i6 theme. I have quickly become a fan of BB Design Worx as it is very evident that attention to even the smallest detail is what has and should make them a serious player in the vast theme market.

For a mere sale price of $1.49 at the Berryfication Store you can enjoy the black, grey and white all over look that will have your Blackberry shouting out ‘look at me’ or maybe the more practical ‘ hey look at my Blackberry’ from you. Available for non-touch 480 x 360 devices, a copy is waiting for you and I will take it upon myself to invite you to visit their new website and see the quality work BB Design Worx is dishing out.
