The first game in the bunch is EVAC a game of mazes, traps and stealthy speed. I like to think of this as an ode to PacMan with a hot twist of the Matrix. But Hexage doesn’t do anything half-heartedly. Of course they’ve added a nice amount of dark comedy to EVAC to keep you interested and keep me giggling. Cratos will guide you through levels giving you hints and clues to traps and escape routes while Shadowbox will seek to destroy everything you stand to gain, which is steal his colors.

At first glance it’s a tad difficult to see how fun this game will be from a visual standpoint and from the screenshots it produces don’t quite give you the true HD view you’ll have when your PlayBook is actually lit up with EVAC on your lap. But man oh man am I mad about this one. At just $1.99 with 32 well designed levels I can’t find much to complain about. Don’t want to put it down but for the moment I need to move you to the next title.

Everlands is the next title that caught my attention. Keep in mind I bought all 4 of these over just a few minutes time. They were released in App World over a 2 day span. I like good vs evil games. And that’s just the type of game we have here. Game style is a turn-based adventure where you are trying to restore an evil cloud that has taken over half of the forest. Using your own collection of animals, each has their own special abilities as well as 2 numbers on them. One number represents the characters strength, the other represents their attack. These are hand painted icons made to look like their actual animal in the real forest. Special arrows are placed on specific characters allowing them to attack north, northeast, east, southeast and so on.

Cool thing about this game is they have given you an option to place your animal in a suggested area. You don’t have to use this feature but it does tend to help when you just can decide where to place the next one. Your animals will go after the dark purple tinted animals that have had some sort of a spell put on them. Once an animal is defeated it will turn back to normal and will count toward your percentage of what’s been saved on the board. 50% or more takes the level. Pretty cool game for something that appears to be geared towards smaller children. Once again Hexage brings their dark and sinister appeal to another title. Everlands is $1.99 in BlackBerry App World below.

FEATURES
Uncover the mystery hidden between the realms in a unique puzzle game. Travel to enchanted places of the past with your witch doctor guide and solve over 100 logic tasks.
Play at your own pace. Think hard and weight carefully your next move, or just stroke your moves intuitively and let the solution emerge in front of your eyes.
Play the survival mode for extra challenge, make your stand against the time and write your name into the on-line leaderboards.
The third in the batch is Totemo, a game that seems to open windows to a spiritual like realm. It took a few games before I realized I had grasped the concept of this one. But it does sooth my anxiety and I like that about it.

Goal here is to clear the board by following the eyes on the totem along the left. As you progress the totems will stack higher meaning the number of puzzle pieces you have to light up and take out will increase too. It’s not a simple puzzle game but it is rewarding. The levels feel like I’m in a marsh somewhere humid in the wee hours of the night. Fireflies flickering and we’ve stumbled upon a series of spiritual puzzles. Touch one item to trigger the next.. Touch the next to trigger your path. Touch the last to remove them all together. A very unique game, available for $1.99 in BlackBerry App World below.

FEATURES
Buka is a cute game of skill. Facing the impossible odds of countless baddies, Buka has set on a quest to find The Happy Place.
Protect her with powerful explosions and shockwaves you can create with single touch. Use shockwaves to push objects closer or away.
Destroy everything in your path and navigate through the rest – until you reach The Happy Place.
For the final and fourth game from Hexage, we have is Buka. This is a little colorful adventure where the goal is not to get hurt too much. Buka is a happy little bubble-ish gal. Some may say too happy. And the hoards of “baddies” will not stand for her happy-go-lucky attitude. They’ll come crashing right into Buka, smashing and trashing her until she gives up. But cute as a bubbly button, Buka still gives out a positive vibe saying, “don’t worry we’ll get them next time.”

I’ve played through a few levels of Buka so far and it sort of reminds me of those bubble games where you touch bubbles trying to get them large enough to cover a certain mass of the screen. But unlike those games Buka takes a different path and does not require any enlargements but moreover explosions to keep Buka in safe spirits. Hold down anywhere to shock or blast enemies to kingdom come. Buka is easy on the wallet too at just $0.99 at the link below.
