If there’s one name that BlackBerry users have continuously kept their thumbs locked on it’s IM+ and SHAPE Services has seen the results rally with a customer base into 7 digits.

Now they’ve even added and IM+ Lite version for the undecided to make that crucial choice of which IM Client is best for them. And for SHAPE Services that was damn kind of them!

Mmm let me say this, IM+ Pro is one massive achievement for all Smartphone owners. I mean why would you want to install Google Talk, Yahoo!, MSN/Windows Live Messenger, AIM/iChat, Facebook, Jabber, ICQ, MySpaceIM, Skype, and is that all? Seriously even just 3 of these clients will really run down your application memory. But let’s not forget IM+ Now supports Twitter!! Yeah that’s right they’ve even added Twitter support to the biggest and most famous instant messenger client around. Now let’s see how it all comes together shall we…

From the jump I’m running on Google Talk, Yahoo!, Facebook, MySpaceIM, Skype, and Twitter. And no I don’t use MySpace really anymore. But the little perfect icons for each look 5 star. I feel like this is the Brand name Client for each. Nothing seems 3rd party or like it’s trying to fool you into thinking any different. Just set up and running through my different accounts is impressive. The big idea is that your getting all this coverage and there’s no extra cost. The Lite version is ad-based and does not offer IMPush/Stay Online or Speech Recognition functionality. But really thinking how most things are nowadays, this being FREE to send messages with any and all Clients at once is phenomenal. And Yes you can do everything that most any of these Instant Messaging Clients would offer as a standalone app. Such as send pictures, videos, voice messages and a bit more.

The Twitter integration is flawless and looks clear. Ease of use is a major score for especially users who are familiar with the likes of Yahoo!, and Google Talk but new to Twitter. And aren’t really sure what Twitter does besides update a message. This is perfect. And even as a seasoned Twitter user. I have to say Great work SHAPE Services! The cool thing to is your ability to set either just to receive Direct Messages, or DM with Mentions and so on. It’s better to save on Battery in times of need. Four boxes. Replies(@), Direct Messages(DM), Favorites, and Friends Timeline. All at your thumbs reach.

Other awesome features of IM+ Pro like the ability to use Translator to communicate with friends/business partners overseas is a nice treat. The Speech Recognition feature is also a very nice option. It isn’t a FREE service however. If you want to use it they offer a monthly fee of $1.99. And actually that’s a decent price. If you only want to use it a little bit or a lot. However I was not provided this service in our Review version of IM+ Pro. So I can’t tell you how it performs. But the idea that we can speak through all these clients is another groundbreaking idea.

But that’s not all. There’s also a Translator feature that is native and will be helpful when you find yourself in a situation that calls for it. Final prognosis is that IM+ Pro and Lite are any easy 9 out 10 for my personal score. An app at this caliber should be valued at a reasonable cost and I think the price tag surely fits the product. Compatibility is across the board. Even the 9800 Torch is already compatible. That was quick. Don’t forget about Skype Group Chat. That is also a wonderful addition. I use Skype quite a bit. And mostly as a chat application. You can literally FREE up 10 megabytes of Application Memory just by tossing those Google Talk, Skype for BlackBerry, Twitter for BlackBerry (if you want), Yahoo! and many many more. The Stay Online/IMPush feature allows you to make phone calls, drive, take a nap so you won’t miss a thing. However this feature isn’t supported on the Lite version so please don’t get your hopes up. Also remember the Lite version is Ad-based with no option for Speech Recognition. But it’s a wicked FREE taste of what the Pro version is offering you. There’s so many more features that I just couldn’t pump in here. The product has a high user base and Oodles of clout for a reason. Check it out for sure!
