The Impact Series Case for BlackBerry Torch 9850-9860 is a great solution for everyday users looking to keep their Torch safe from unexpected fumbles while not getting too bulky or extreme.
The Impact Series for BlackBerry Bold 9900-9930 has been my favorite case in the OtterBox line of accessories this year, so I figured we couldn’t go wrong trying that same Impact Series on my ladies Torch 9850.

We’ll rewind a few weeks here, since I love documenting the things my girl says about these wonderful products OtterBox and other leading technology makers send us. Her first words were, “eh”. I expected that. Sure. You see my girl is the type of woman who likes to pick on anything and everything that wasn’t her original idea. Free, gifted, doesn’t matter. Now had she found it on Pinterest with say Space Invaders painted on the back, this would have gone 180 degrees the other way.
But the fact is I love her, and have known her for 10+ years. Plus I knew how I felt about the Impact case on my 9930 originally, and I figured she wouldn’t only warm up to this case – she would be raving about it after she won the first impression. And I was right!
After about 24 hours of using the Impact Case on her Torch 9850, she mentioned how comfortable the case made the BlackBerry in her hands. While holding the case in portrait is her standard choice, she also does hold the Torch in landscape at times too. If fact her only complaint after 1 day was her own twitch. She would tend to peal the case off around the mid-section while viewing items in landscape. I didn’t record any wear or tear after 2 weeks actually. Just a little fading on the back.
This case is built more for everyday to medium protection. While you can drop your BlackBerry in an Impact case, I wouldn’t recommend too many cement/linoleum drops. The harder the surface, the more likely your device is to bounce. Which has saved mine from a second spill because I’m usually right under the BlackBerry by the point of original impact. No pun intended.
Installation for the Impact case is simple – One piece easily slips over your device and takes just s smudge adjusting to get all your buttons, ports and speakers aligned. Removal is just as easy. No extra piece to work onto the device. All and all I was impressed and April was impressed too. She’s not easy to get an approval out of. The one other complaint she had was the Impacts silicone takes a little bit of a liking to lint-fuzzies. Pockets and purses (bags) definitely increase lint. But a few minutes out or in your hand and the case is clean again. Not bad for a low price of $19.95!
