Well this one was a nice surprise! The Meebo Inc recently released an Open Beta to their Meebo IMing application for BlackBerry Smartphones. I’m about 24 hours in and very impressed with it so far!

I’m not sure how long the Beta will be open to the public or if it’s just about ready for a full release. But I can say it’s a nice change of pace. Simple with nice big buttons. Not a lot of features to set-up or configure but that’s also not a bad thing as long as it doesn’t what I need.
Meebo is FREE. It’s compatible with multiple BlackBerry devices including 9500 series devices (landscape isn’t an option yet, however) Meebo connects you to AIM, Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo!, ICQ, Jabber, Google Talk, MySpace, & Facebook. You can access full chat histories. Much like BlackBerry Messenger. And one of my favorite features. You can Sync with the Meebo Messenger Web (which is also FREE) and then back to your BlackBerry.

Great interface. And so far as I said before I’m very delighted with this IM Client. Not a lot of features but the Full Chat History Access is a slick treat. They’ll hopefully add the landscape mode for touch devices soon. I know a lot of you out there just don’t use portrait. No Twitter support yet either. Don’t let the cute picture above fool you. That’s for the Web version we linked in.
But the details like big buttons, nice colors, and all the Messenger applications you can throw at them. A sure win in more than a few categories. Please remember this is a Beta application and our Review is just that. A review of a Beta application. So far so good. If your in the market or just like to try new clients out I’ll easily recommend a trip to Meebo.com <Here! Or hit the link below to get right to the BlackBerry application.
