It brings me no greater honor in this lifetime to be able and introduce one of the most remarkable products to come out in decades..  the JAMBOX by Jawbone. If you don’t have one yet. I’ll bet you will within the next 6 months to a year. Or shortly after you see one in person.

Like the Sony Walkman evolved into the iPod-iTouch. This is truly the Boombox of the 21st century. Sure you have all the wireless, wired speakers, headsets, earbuds you once needed, wanted. Maybe you use them, maybe no. But the second JAMBOX is on, and your hands touch it, you’ll forget about anything you ever used before.

JAMBOX is available in 1 of 4 different colors: Black Diamond, Blue Wave, Red Dot & Gray Hex. Each color has it’s very own characteristic marking grate. The JAMBOX delivers an output capacity of 85 decibels. That’s louder than a motorcycle. A rock concert hits at 120 decibels.

When Jawbone first tweeted their JAMBOX commercial I was there. Linked it from BlackBerry to the PC. My family and I just sat in awe as this funky little box jammed tunes, video game sounds, and did a conference call in about 60 seconds. That was a few months ago. Today you can actually have one.

According to Jawbone
: “JAMBOX is powered by a pair of proprietary, highly sophisticated acoustic drivers, unmatched in their ability to produce extreme high (tweeter) and low (woofer) frequencies from a single, ultra-small dome speaker. They work in concert with an innovative moving-wall passive bass radiator and airtight enclosure to deliver shimmering highs and thumping lows..

But how’s it sound? Function? 2 minutes it took me to connect my BlackBerry Bold 9650. I was immediately smitten. Trying very hard to think how could something this small be good enough to bump over the stereo? I haven’t turned the stereo on once since unboxing it. So to answer my own question, it is one powerful little box! The bass is deep and highs are high. It feels wrong to hold something this powerful. With *Proprietary acoustic drivers (stereo pair). *Proprietary passive bass radiator. *Output Level: 85dB at 0.5m and the *Frequency Response: 60 Hz – 20 kHz. Sounds like stereo instructions right. Well it sounds unimaginably lustrous. Effortlessly clear. Distortion sounds live while the bass beats through your chest.

Connections: I can connect my BlackBerry, laptop, iTouch and just about anything else with *Bluetooth or a *3.5 mm Audio Output. There’s also an option to connect JAMBOX to 2 devices at the same time using Simultaneous Multipoint (enabled via MyTALK). Also the Charging is via a Micro-USB Cable.

Built in microphone: Yep Jawbone really pushed the envelope. Why would you need this? Well image a conference call with this awesome product sitting in the middle of your office. Hands-free to do other things and eyes to look at your associates instead of off into space. Just a simple phone call. JAMBOX works in-tandem with Voice Dialing on most smartphones. I ran a few tests with the BlackBerry but didn’t always get the results I wanted. However I had no complaints once on calls.

Size, weight, style: JAMBOX comes in at 151mm long, 57mm wide and 40mm tall. It’s a perfect baby. I wouldn’t recommend jamming it into a pocket, especially skinny jeans. But it will fit well inside a purse, manbag, backpack, ect. Inside the box is a nice little Carrying Case that folds out to protect the box from debris, dings, ect. So you don’t feel so awful putting her in a zipper compartment.

In the box: I hate this part and it’s also why we shy away from Video Reviews. Seems to spoil the surprise for a lot of people. But in all fairness we want to give you all the information you’ll need before making a purchasing decision. There are 7 items inside the VIP Packing New School shoebox like boombox (4 different colored boomboxes for each JAMBOX). *1. The JAMBOX. *2. 60″ micro USB charging cable. *3. 12.5″ micro USB charging cable. *4. 36″ 3.5mm stereo cable. *5. Carrying Case. *6. A/C wall charger. *7. User Guide.
