I don’t know about you, but I’m a heavy memopad user. Grocery lists, to do’s, music or products I’ve seen and don’t have time to buy right then, etc. These all go into my memopad on my Tour. BB4 Software has gone one step further and released MiniNotes.
MiniNotes brings you functionality that other platforms have had for a while. When you first load the application, you are immediately asked to make a few setting choices. You can edit font, color, and size. You are also able to change font to indicate bold and italics. You are also able to choose a background of 10 different colors. I like this as I tend to lay in bed at night with the lights off and add, create, or edit my notes. So being able to place a darker background in MiniNotes and type away allows me to not strain my eyes or readjust from glancing at the TV.
You can create custom labeled categories to file away your notes. The notes can then be filtered by the categories and can even be searched by the titles of the notes. Similar to the way that in media player, you begin typing and all items that use those letters will be brought up. Then more you type, the more indepth and accurate the search results will be.
Your existing memopad notes can be imported into MiniNotes if you say Yes. Doing this also allows you to export the notes to a text file and can also be stored to your MicroSD card. This is a nice feature. I’ve upgraded OS versions or had to wipe my device and ended up losing all my notes or restoring to older memopad entries.
Coming in at 235kb, MiniNotes isn’t going to be a drag on your device. The price of the application is just under $3. While that might be a little pricey for a utility application that you could easily by pass for the use of the native Memopad application, you’ll really have to think through the process to see if it’s really for you. Would I pay for it….probably not. As I said, I do use memopad frequently, but the only thing that really excites me, is the save to MicroSD card option. So the choice is yours. In saying that, it will be a great asset to a select group of consumers.
