Every once and a while I stumble upon an app that really charms me. These aren’t usually apps for gamer’s. Actually Perico Pirata “Pirate Parrot” is an Interactive Children’s Story Book that will warm the hearts of kids (ages 1-7) and parents alike.

Perico Pirata took a 1st prize in the BlackBerry Challenge at www.desafioblackberry.com/ which includes a contact for 60 days in order to develop an application for use by Agea. As well as a cash prize of $2000.00USD! But let me say even if your kids are older than the 1-7 age group, you’ve got to check this application out! It’s filled with so much charisma, love and adventure. You leave the story wanting more with your heart warmed to a nice simmer.
Javier contacted us about their Perico Pirata about a week ago. After I downloaded and tried the app out I just knew this was why I’m in the position I’m in with Berryfication and the BlackBerry community. Everyone must try Perico Pirata!
The app starts off on a ship (read: pirate ship, course). It reads, “While the sunrise is late.” “Would you help the sleepy sun to wake up?” Now is when the child realizes they can interact with the animated picture. And they are rewarded with a sparkling Congratulation’s. Navigation is made by way of the bottom left and right corners of the screen. From this point on the story takes on the role of discovery. While they give you instructions at the start of each new page some things are left to the child to find.
After the first 2 pages, Pirate Parrot will then take you (and your children) through the rest of the story. All the emotion of this story book is filled with laughter, positive energy and mystery. By the end of the story Pirate Parrot is sleeping and you must tuck him in. It’s so darn adorable the story connects with the deepest area of my heart. Near the spot where I keep all my love.
Once you finish the story you and your children will discover some extras like taking real photos with the Parrot and other characters from the story. There’s another cute moment in the story where the Parrot repeats everything you say to him. It comes out quite cute. You’re just going to love this one!
