Prana is finally here. HedoneDesign has made a theme that truly shows originality and the acquired taste that style and design junkies crave. It’s been a very long time since they’ve done something like this. A lot of time and precision clearly went into the entire process.


For compatible devices HD generally covers the same each time. From 8350i to 9800. The only one’s missing are Pearl 9100 series and Style 9670 unfortunately.  Maybe in a future update. But at the moment, if you own a compatible Berry you may want to throw down for Prana.


Something about the color scheme that really grabbed me from the jump. HedoneDesign functions at a different level than many of us. Where a lot of Theme Builders constantly focus their energy on how’d they do that or how much money they are making.. Hedone can be found escaping to a world of visual design and deep meaning. I remember one time asking Hedone to share some of his favorite websites, places he drew inspiration from, and just places he dwelled. I was pleasantly surprised when I found  some of the most magnificent art and semblance.

Prana lays out in 9 perfectly placed circles. I can’t help but think they used 9 because of the strong association with the Chinese Dragon and numbers in Chinese Culture. With the Dragon symbolizing the Emperor and the 9′s you’ll find on many ornaments in the Forbidden City. I’ve learned to think outside the box with their themes over time. I’d be a fool to think it’s all a coincidence.


The top left icon is your BBM, below it is the Today icon, touch that or scroll left to reveal all the Today functions. Below that you’ll find Applications. Select it to reveal 4 applications in a beautiful blade or fanning-effect (Calculator, Memo, Tasks, and File Browser). Middle top icon is Text, below is Options in the absolute middle. Bottom middle is Profiles. Top right is Browser, below that is Favorites (top 6 applications on App Screen) all user defined and opens a row of those apps in written text. And lastly bottom right is your Media which reveals 4 apps just like the Applications one. They are Pictures, Videos, Music and Ringtones.

The overall feeling I get is awesome from this theme. I would really like to see HedoneDesign start making custom nofications too as would many other fans so I’ve been told. They really add that little something extra that the stock theme does not. But regardless with it’s tiny digital world feeling, custom everything else and the deeper meaning behind a lot of it I must say this one is truly moving and original.
