Soon as their highly anticipated Innocell 3000mAh Extended Batteries started to spread, the first thing users asked about was a case. The need for an extra battery has gone without saying ever since BlackBerry 7 became the standard. But having an Innocell 3000mAh Extended Battery means not having to carry that travel charger or spare 1230mAh [standard OS7 battery] anymore. Is this for you? If your answer is yes, then I will share that it has been a nice treat for me.

And I’ll admit besides loving the new found battery life my first complaint was a fear of having no protection on my Bold 9930. Adding a larger battery means adding weight and bulk as well as taking away access to your previous cases.
Initial Impressions — Seidio’s SURFACE Extended Case is very thin. Similar to a “barely there” but combined with Seidio’s clever SURFACE Case series. It does include that soft felt-like underneath. The case does not snap together like the original SURFACE series. But it does snap securely over the Bold 9900/30 device, locking the Extended Battery and entire backside of the device into the design. Full access to all ports, buttons, speaker including the top and bottom portion of the device.
First Week Use — Even with the obvious added bulk Seidio’s SURFACE Extended does a great job of adding a bit of sexy back to the design. If you’ve gotten used to holding your Bold with the Extended Battery then you’ve gotten used to holding the device with this case on. Once noticeable difference is how smooth it now feels with the protection on. Cuts and access to buttons are complimented well.
Okay so how’s the journey in a pocket, bag, purse been? Considering I got the COMBO version, which comes with a special SURFACE Extended Holster, so it hasn’t spent a lot of time in a pocket. Although the case doesn’t take up much extra space so the pocket seems to work okay unless you wear skinny jeans. In that case you’ve already made some of your own adjustments in life. And this case, nor will the Extended Battery fit too well in those pockets. Everything else is game! Back on the SURFACE Holster, this makes life a lot more enjoyable all the way around. Your phone with case on fits perfectly into the extended holster. Plus there’s a bonus feature of the Holster, which puts your BlackBerry to sleep while it’s secure. Great feature!
Installation & Removal — My two least favorite steps in any accessory review. Happy to announce that Seidio once again makes putting their case on a very painless process. I always place the buttons in first, then snap the port side secure. Double bonus for making taking it off just as easy!
