Sometimes simple can be a good thing even when it comes to themes. Mobster Mobile Design (MMD) has done just that in a theme they call ‘Simply Grey’ and it is anything but simple
when you see it on your phone. Visitors to the Berryfication site and those who follow great theme developers are well aware of what MMD can produce in a theme. I have donned Cyrene and more recently Helios themes by MMD on my Bold 9000 and both where nothing short of fantastic, both in looks and functionality on my phone.
Simply Grey gives me the same look and feel I love to see and use with a theme, from smooth screen transitions, user customizable icons that are original and different and a clean dock that can be hidden away to show off your best wallpaper.
A clean banner located at the top left of your screen shows your time and date in an easy to see and read font for my older eyes. The bottom dock has the same look as the time/date banner and holds 5 of your most important icons. Scrolling along each icon is a small blue ‘ball’ that raises the icon as you move along each one, the ball turns red when on your message/email folders to let you know you have unread mail waiting as well as a red asterisk above the folders, both features I found very unique, as it stood out to let me know to read that new email. A tap of your Escape key will remove your icon dock to give you a clean screen and a tap of your Space key will bring it back into view.
The 6th spot in your application menu is reserved for your favorite weather application or icon of your choice that is displayed neatly across from the time banner on the right side of the screen. The icons are the perfect size and come in a gentle grey that blends well with the look and feel of the theme. Simple Grey comes with a wallpaper you may not want to change as it compliments the theme so well as seen in the screenshots.
Simply Grey has found a place on my phone for awhile and MMD has found a place for me to go for the latest and greatest themes as once again there is no disappointment in this theme and from what they have been putting out lately MMD is a serious player in theme designing. Available for non-touch devices from the 8350 to the 9700 series this theme will ‘Simply’ look great on your phone.
