A new development group Alade Designs has slipped us a nice treat. OSBB & OSBBx’s Don B. [@blkscorp33] is at the helm of Alade Designs for a smart task (keeping track) app called CF PillPad for BlackBerry 10 built using bbUI.js. I’m running the app on a BlackBerry 10 Developer Alpha unit.
The CF PillPad application was inspired by Don’s #CFWarrior: Lorenzo Michel. For those who don’t know CF stands for Cystic Fibrosis – which is an inherited disorder of the exocrine glands, affecting children and young people. Median survival is 25 years in females and 30 years in males.. Read more info in the bottom image. As well learn more at cff.org/
For families, friends and patients living with a disorder like this consumption of various prescription medications is a daily routine. CF PillPad designed using one of Tim Neil’s many projects (bbUI.js) and takes full advantage of the attractive framework. The start up screen is shown in the top image. 4 categories up top: Patients, Medications, Medical Websites & Pharmacies keep things tidy. Down below on the bottom banner is an action button: Add/Edit +/-, Calculator, About us & Inspiration info.

Most of the categories are fully functional. For instance you can quickly add a patients name, drug, dosage, and a note with info to remember when taking said medication (seen in the photo above). Creating and editing this item took me less than 1 minute. I was even able to cut, copy & paste with ease. Geez I love navigating that magnifying glass focus. This type of interaction gets me all giddy about BlackBerry 10 if you haven’t noticed.
Other notable features include 3 counties: US, Canadian & United Kingdom pharmacy access. Choose your county to get access to various pharmacies. These pharmacies will draw access to those specific sites in the final release I expect. The Medical Websites category brings the same type of quick reference access to sites like WebMD, The Mayo Clinic, Drugs.com and others.
This is the 3rd BlackBerry 10 app built using bbUI.js that I’ve looked at. I must say I really do love the speed, clear function, and clean UI of these applications. Alade Designs and the team over at OSBBx will likely be bringing more great products like this in the future. Nice work to all the people involved!

And so far the future of BB10 is getting brighter everyday. With the inclusion of developers like Alade Designs and the team at OSBBx behind BlackBerry 10 development and projects like this, I have faith RIM will succeed. I have faith without it. But it’s inspiring to see developers pour their hearts into an app like CF PillPad. Simple or not, BB10 is putting RIM back on top!
