[Review] Crispy by BerryGlowDesigns
It slightly bothers me to see designer themes like this one not flying off the virtual shelf yet. BerryGlowDesigns is one of the most ambitious Theme Builders left in the world of BlackBerry and his work deserves to be on your BlackBerry. His latest theme Crispy takes some bold direction with a slight familiarity with his awesome Phantom series of themes, using the same style icon set. This is a wicked theme. Read on to find out why I think so.
Crispy theme features:
• subtle embedded banners on the home screen
• glass like icon focus
• “Crispy” customized OS7 icon set
• ease to use, lagless and wallpaper friendly
• vibrant custom battery/signal/wifi meters
• very low file size
• smooth screen transitions added to OS5 devices
Now that I don’t have direct access to themes on my BlackBerry, I think it’s a little obvious that I’m slumping into a depression about my love for RIM and everything I once paraded so hard for. HedoneDesign released Avio and I couldn’t just sit by without getting my hands into it, so I grabbed a friends Style 9670 and activated it!
Avio surprised me quite a bit! Immediately I was trying to slap the homescreen with my thumbs only to be reminded that I was using a BlackBerry 6.0 device. But that was the small complaint, and hardly the developer’s problem.
This is a piece of art, a deeper expressive design chalk full of custom made icons, svg, menus, fonts and more. It’s been a while since we’ve seen Hedone take this much time to create such a rich original theme.
BGD is back! But this time you can save your money for some Christmas shopping, because his latest Naturize: Winter Dream HD is absolutely FREE! Now that’s a theme price you can’t argue with. Coming from BerryGlowDesigns you know it’s going to be premium.

Like any music application I was quick to try out Rdio when I discovered it’s compatibility with my BlackBerry Bold 9930 a couple months back. They toss you a nice trial that runs long enough (7 days) to sink your teeth in, make a fair choice if it’s worth your monthly dollar bills.
Remember we’re rocking BlackBerry’s over here so the GUI may not match the visual brilliance of Android & iPhone but Rdio for BlackBerry is no slouch in the functionality, quality and music fanboy departments!
One of my favorite types of themes is a style that’s not so over-the-top that you need a roadmap to get through it. Much like BGT, theme builder bbthemelab puts his own unique touch on iReplica – his latest! Complete with custom icons & mirrored icons on the bottom dock!

This is a theme you must purchase. Inotia is far more original and technology advanced than 99% of themes made for BlackBerry today. RIM should be using themes like this in their ad-campaigns. Do they really think they’re better off without Mobster Mobile Design or others in newer devices?!

Another beautiful design built SamgbxDesigns. Combining simple, attractive and highly digible wallpapers Circulo takes another stab at the cool homescreen widget made popular by Android phones. But this time he’s slipped in a row of user defined icons as well, so everyone wins!
Circulo is compatible with BlackBerry 6 & 5 devices only. This includes Curve, Pearl, Storm, Bold, Style and Torch devices. Only appears 9000 is not compatible. If you have a 5-6.0 device the $2.99 asking price is quite generous for the quality.
You know the name, Mobster Mobile Design has been steady building lately, despite the lack of Theme Studio software for OS 7.0 devices. For now we’ll just have to overlook that and set our sights on MMD’s awesome new theme TheGrid! Inspired by an OS by FusionGarage, this is one you can’t miss!
TheGrid theme is compatible with most devices running OS 5.0 & 6.0. Curve 8900 series, 9300 & 9330. Bold 9000, 9650, 9700, 9780 & 9788. Pearl 9100 & 9105. Storm 9500 series, Tour 9630, Style 9670 & Torch 9800.
Forget the 10 copies. Forget every thing you know about having a theme on your BlackBerry. Few have reached this level of customization and VELOZ by Walker Themes is clearly a prestigious design loaded with function. It’s nice to see he’s still on his own.
Big name theme builders became who they are today by hiring a guy like Ring Walker to build their best products. We’ll you won’t see Walker doing someone else’s dirty work. He’s got his own game to run!
Out of nowhere our great friends at HedoneDesign hit us with an all new theme today. Hedone aptly titled this one Carbon, built in a circular ring made popular by Elecite, perfected by Mobster Mobile Design and now the don will take his crack at it.
Carbon is smoking hot if you ask me! The culture behind BlackBerry theme design continues to evolve yet Developers have their own needs to fulfill specific genres and Carbon bangs loud on the drum.
