He’s doing something very right. SamgbxDesigns Origin theme is a fresh take on simple to use meets custom to go. Custom icons, user defined, beautiful graphics and all 6 judges scored at least a 9.0/10.

From the activation all eyes locked on to the electric-crayon-like graphics. Origin is invigorating. Applications swept across the top with more sown tightly into the bottom. The structure is wide open with the focal point landing at the center. Navigation is a gift. An orange focus bursts in your eyes and puts you right in the action.

On visual design our Bold/5 judge said, “I found the icons to be sharp and easy to figure out.” Our 9800 judge stated, “Right from the first look it emulates ‘simple is better’ with the grey background and soft white banners..” and “Hands down full marks on this area!” Our Style judge says “the theme wallpaper is so nice, I doubt I’ll change it.”

The technology of Origin is lightweight, giving emphasis to the user experience. Even for advanced users this theme feels clean like our previous years themes before all the svgs came in to play. A couple judges would have preferred an option to hide the main dock, for the ability to show only the wallpaper at times. Also the lack of custom fonts in menu’s was a concern. Though both complaints rolled into compliments.

Overall our judges proved very fond of Origin, the latest adventure from SamgbxDesigns. Orange accents in a grey environment made big fans of all 6. The social media & settings icons built into the bottom dock creates a lot of excitement in your everyday user & BlackBerry enthusiasts! Origin is a rare brilliance.

Description:

Beauté Bleu or blue beauty is the latest custom built theme by SamgbxDesigns. Design structure is basic, intuitive and easy to navigate. The minimal amount of homescreen icons makes the navigation a breeze to recall. Our Torch judge had one issue with the icons being located at the top as opposed to the bottom of the screen, since this would make things difficult to reach them with the slider open and one hand free. Other judges found the location to bring a pleasant balance on non-touch devices.

Looking at this theme is a pleasure to the eyes. The soft colors are dazzling without overreaching. Our Bold 5.0 user agreed with this statement and added that the icons are stylish and appealing. Only thing I’d like to see is a way to hide the focus on the home screen when not in use. Personally I love the look of the focus on the Clock at home when not in use. The theme has a very denim looking feel to it and I love great jeans. Our Curve 9330 Judge said he enjoys the gray mini pixel angled mesh background, the “modern blank” feel keeps it away from any specific genre/ideal.

Functionally this theme is straightforward. If it appears click-able it is. Our OS5 judge was surprised to find the Clock and Signal not selectable at home, but all other judges loved the fast ins & outs of the theme in a 6.0 OS. The build is lightweight with no fancy animations. This gives more flexibility to function and places the score very high in this category.

The overall total feel of Beauté Bleu is magnetizing. Handsome graphics, collectible icons, and a clear message. We were all happily fond of various wallpapers and the smooth transition of the focus/icons together with our favorite walls. This theme is gentle and extraordinary all at once.

Description:

HedoneDesign dazzles screens again with their new title Prana. A theme that recreates the possibilities of your BlackBerry structure. Breathtaking, complex made user-friendly.

The structure and navigation are perfect. Combining originality in design with a smooth new structure that works in a 3×3 set-up. The elegance of arrangement and balance behind the chosen native apps deserves attention.

In visuals Prana works quite well. The style doesn’t accept much in the way of change though the wallpaper isn’t fixed, it didn’t work for any judge to change it. This design is mostly fixed but remains striking nonetheless.

Functionality is one area that HedoneDesign asserted plenty of attention. Focus is represented by movement of a red circle and red cascades in the homescreen, seems so breathtaking just to scroll through. A couple area’s flawed in custom folders were pointed out by all judges.

Overall this is a very unique experience. They are still using a set of icons that users have seen many times before. While they look fresh and tasteful, some judges pointed this out. Notifications are also stock, in a theme this beautiful I can’t help but notice how much better the complete experience would have felt with that full circle feel. Regardless we’ve never seen anything this inspiring from the Developer and continue to look forward to everything they do.

A pure brilliance in structure and navigation. It’s clear that time was carefully taken to assure every pixel was precise. This product continuously arouses. Navigation handles like the fastest safe car never made yet.

The rock star of themes comes to life like sleeves on your arm. Then turned every spot of ink into each it’s own functional button. We had so many judges and people volunteer a perfect 10 it became difficult to get a bigger magnifying glass. Although a closer look would reveal paper-like graphics with live technology writhed in. One word, gasp.

And the functionality is the root to Vintage. This is what all the bells & whistles come down to. Seeing the concept was one thing but actually engaging is a whole new experience. One that to miss wouldn’t be fair to any fan.

Getting a new theme for your BlackBerry has become almost an intimate experience. For some, even myself I try to close my doors to opinion and just breath. I imagine I’m walking through a house filled with unseen paintings. Theme design is a culture that drives creativity, sales and fixes an addiction for some. Walker Themes latest XAPIRE is a product that goes beyond our expectations.

Let’s crack right into the structure and navigation. XAPIRE has a very balanced layout, pulling the custom font-clock as your focal point. The Storm judge said, “I love the use of the arrows indicating the rising dock and the use of the escape button to hide all icons. That little gem surprised me!” In the navigation no matter how you hold your BlackBerry both Torch and Storm auto format to the orientation. The Torch judge pointed out that, “even the entire 4, 8, or 12 icon option with font stylized clock appears and flawlessly! One of the Style 9670 judges said, “this is a theme well worth the price tag, it functions without hiccups..”

In the category of visual design I’d have to say this theme rolls off my thumb pads like a perfect circle. Our other 9670 judge said, “I really love the simplicity of design here.” And I couldn’t agree more. But I’d also like to point out the aptitude that went into every little detail. It’s like he was guiding airplanes or missiles when he placed every pixel in it’s place. One of our Style judges also said “The attention to detail & creativity is above and beyond that of most theme developers.” and that, “The overall effect of the theme is artistry at it’s best.”

XAPIRE balloons up high in the department of functionality also. 4 different homescreen layouts (+4 in Torch landscape mode) are all controlled by one set of arrows and one press of the back [ESC] button. One of our Torch judges stated, “the fade in/out of apps and between screens is flawless!” The method in which the breathing focus appears like sharp rays of light blasted in unpredictable ways and draws us in like hypnosis. This product’s value surpasses it’s cost by long stretch.

With all considerations, one complaint the Torch judge had was, “it’s hard to find anything wrong with this theme.” He did say, “I’d love a shortcut to the Clock and Sound Profile on the homescreen. And one of our Style judges said, “I wish there was an easy way to bring up the different layouts without having to hit the arrow.  I prefer the corners and you have to hit the arrow and then close it again.” Again a small complaint for a product that she went on to say this about: “It’s gonna be difficult to find something to replace it!  Going to be on my Style for a long time!”

I’m sure  I’ve been known to be a little bit of a theme hopper. Even when I find something great, still I must rotate my view. Walker Themes HeartBeat theme is inventive and meaningful. I continue to activate it, often.

First he flipped it in a wicked Pink version. Now he’s added versions with OS7 icons and chopped the price in half from now until June 5th! Just $2.99 a piece!! For this kind of effort, time, and heart I think it’s a steal.

Since it’s release Walker has gotten a lot of attention for this theme. From end users to BlackBerry blog site editors, many people love this one. He’s earned a 9.8/10 BQC from our team of select judges. This theme doesn’t reinvent icons. It doesn’t talk to you in the morning, and it will not recommend a good book when your “in the mood”.

But somehow they do it again! We set-up our popular BQC Judges all with copies, (most had their own) and here’s what they had to say..

I noticed right away that instead of getting really technical or overly fancy with svg, HedoneDesign focused of a cool earthy image. You can almost feel the moist dense leaf. The statement is cool but strong. Our 9800 judge said, “the structure is built to compliment the navigation directly, which is simple.” “Move up, move down.” “Click to expand, click to simplify.” The 9700/6.0 judge said, “I love when I click a text icon, it drops more choices down!”

Visual design is Wakai’s main course. “Graphically beautiful” said the 9800 judge in his first moments with it. Our Bold 5.0 judge said, “there’s not much I dislike.” Some of us did have issues with the notification area, which gets cramped rather quickly. Though it’s no deal breaker.

Wakai exceeds expectations in functionality. There’s so much to access from the homescreen yet it’s all tucked in and out with just one hand, one thumb and one quick move. Every thing is easy to read. Big battery and signal meters stand out but aren’t overwhelming. A simple box brings you to every place you want to be in the homescreen. Let’s hope they can keep this momentum!

After spending a few weeks on the best sellers lists, a really nice discount and time to marinate through many users BlackBerry smartphones, Wakai is still as cool and strong as the leaf the image brings. Bravo HedoneDesign.

The trackpad works 100% in portrait and landscape orientation. The Style 9670 judge said, “HeartBeat has an innovative layout and is sure to be a hit!”

I’ve had ample visual options with this theme. A theme I love to see how each of my favorite wallpapers look with this design. Our Storm judge said he loves to take his time moving though this visual masterpiece but can still move very quickly without getting lost or confused about the his whereabouts. The message behind HeartBeat is clear, and not overplayed.

Functionality, in short it just works. The Torch judge said, “everything works.” Our Style judge gave the content a 9.5/10. She said, “this is a premium theme at it’s finest.”

Overall we all loved this experience. HeartBeat is awesome. Like nothing we’ve ever seen before. Walker Themes puts himself in a different category entirely with this release. What will he do next? We’ll be there, camping overnight to get our front row seats!

The inventive SVG reflection of Walker Themes product DE-LEXION is sharp. A newer builder with a very accomplished future at this rate. Upon purchase the judges we’re given 3 color options to choose. It’s admiring to feel like your part of the process right away. You get more out of your money picking some of your own feature specs.

On Structure and Navigation the 9800 Judge says, “everything is smooth on the torch. Trackpad support on both landscape and portrait…fast and just works!” The 9700/5.0 Judge would’ve liked an option to hide the Weather Icon too without just the option to either toggle Today<->Weather icon. But see’s this as a personal preference and said, “it’s so easy to navigate through, no hesitation.” I roll my thumb from tip to pad and it takes me right where I’m fixed on. A win for this area.

A foxy simple theme that’s all too imaginary. Visual design is above average. A colorful escapism. The Style 9670 judge said, “normally I wouldn’t pay more than a couple dollars for a theme, but this one is so gorgeous that I bought the other colors as well… very creative.” I agree. I can’t unlock my eyes from the reflections. I tend to move icons around just to see the reflection of different things. DE-LEXION bumps you up to first-class.

Functionality is right where it should be. The theme feel light as a feather. File size is under 1 megabyte. This is a plus for users on older devices. And keeps things moving forward. No issues in this category. One judge scored here with a 9.9/10.0 wow!

The combined total of everything is awesome. This is Walker Themes 3rd BQC win and it’s only getting better. He’s in a rare class that is only getting stronger while gaining more knowledge. As opposed to some that get lazier and search for more efficient ways to make a profit. DE-LEXION is creative but it maintains a simplicity that makes it attractive to a wide spectrum of users. We’ll all stand in line overnight awaiting the next product release. My guess is that it too will be sensational.

Your thumb taps the Berry and the Berry reacts. Like a conversation flowing back and forth or user wants and user gets.

The Structure and Navigation was said to be “one of the smoothest themes on my phone” by one of the judges. Another judge called it “intuitive for even a novice user.” My view is that it proves high end users don’t always need hard core SVG coding to feel catered too. samgbx has a lot of knowledge from both ends of the spectrum. The environment opens a nice playing field of strategically placed players (icons).

Visually the best quote written was Semplice is “soft and pleasing but effective with great icons and design.” Another judge says “no inordinate bells and whistles to wade through..it’s simple.” And those icons really paint in a beautiful piece of candy for every application.

Functionally “keeping it simple is keeping it simple.”

The experience makes you want to take your time with your BlackBerry again. No need to rush about and no need to memorize homescreen functions and layouts. samgbx holds his flag high with this one and we all threw our fists in the air! For theme design this is a big win.
