2 Words, buy this! No seriously TeleNav recently let us know they’d love to see our thoughts on the TeleNav super app for BlackBerry and we quickly obliged.

Just too see this in action on my BlackBerry is a constant treat. My previous Navigator was the one offered by my carrier and has never seemed worth it’s $15.00 usd per month. Sure it had the basic features and did mostly what I asked but why settle when you can have the Best!
Nowadays many people have GPS navigators either built in to their vehicles, maybe your the kind of person that always buys the latest gizmo’s which includes A GPS navigator. Maybe your like me and you prefer to have one that’s always with you right on your BlackBerry no matter what car you take, or what backset you love to shout out “the proper turns” from! Either way it must be said TeleNav GPS Navigator on BlackBerry deserves a keen look through.

After your zip through activation and set-up the first view is the Homescreen. A highly polished GUI with 4 tabs; 1. Drive To: includes home, my favorites, recent places, address, businesses, airports and contact. 2. Search: which is a list of popular choices such as food/coffee, gas stations, WiFi spots, hotels, shopping malls and more, Also has a search box for you to type in keyword(s). And my favorite the Speak in Search option. Select Speak in Search, it’ll bring you to a screen with a gorgeous green/red button showing a mic, hold that down and speak the “business name or category.” Pretty basic. I found this to be a wonderful discovery for those days when life just can’t keep us with us. 3. Maps & Traffic: self explanatory. Gives you the birds eye view. You can Show/Hide traffic, Center it, Get a new map or switch to 3D which will not allow to show traffic for obvious reasons. (it’s not a video game folks.) The maps are a bit nicer than the Native Maps in the BlackBerry OS as far as these additions go. And lastly 4. Share & More: includes; compass, my stuff, weather, share address, record location, refer a friend, product tour, preferences, and about. This section is going to be your best bet to get things set to your preferences and liking. There’s a lot to do with the TeleNav app, might want to make the very best out of it. Also you will find the Product Tour here which is a nice screen by screen flip though your basic operations.

Now using TeleNav GPS Navigator is the true treat here. From the homescreen you can select your TeleNav icon, takes just a few seconds to load. About 4 times faster than the previous navigator I’d been using. Select “Drive To” then pick your option, for instance “Address” This will open a screen where you input an address and TeleNav osculates your route. (Note: it will recognize many cities, streets, ect from just 5 letters typed.) Or you can “Speak It” And before you know your in route to your destination. Remember you can set all kinds of settings, the voice, the volume, ect. I personally prefer to set mine up with a wireless bluetooth ear piece. It puts the turn by turn right in my ear, no distractions. This helps not miss a thing. Along your route TeleNav will recalculate any missed turns or shortcuts you decide to make or accidentally find yourself in. So don’t worry cause you’ll be back on way in moments. They’ve really thought of everything along with implementing the same features you’d expect from a standalone GPS Navigation unit. It’ll be little to no issue for newer BlackBerry Smartphone owners to get the hang of TeleNav.

TeleNav GPS Navigation is a fantastic product and service! It’s ease of use is a big attraction. GUI is brilliant. Load times on the 9550 are little to no issue. I’m curious if the older devices get the same treatment. Regardless we now can see what all the fuss is about when we’re seeing TeleNav news, updates, advertisements here and there. Compatibility is a bit tricky but let’s break it down. For most, Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile customers might want to purchase through your Carrier (sometimes this is the only option) then it will show on your wireless phone bill. With Verizon, consumers (vs business or corporate level customers) have to purchase through TeleNav (see link below) and it’s billed to your credit card. However if your a corporate level customer you can pay via Verizon. They do offer the credit card option for some of the other Carrier phones. But with the Sprint, and AT&T your best to use your Carrier (Note Sprint is branded Sprint Navigation and AT&T is AT&T Navigator.) Same product. Sorry to get a bit confusing but we want our readers and customers to have the best product available. Check it out!
