I had no idea what I was diving into when I choose to purchase The Land of Me the other day. The description reads: “Imagine a beautiful children’s book where the characters are alive and where the choices you make have dramatic results. In this award-winning early learning adventure, children encounter a magical world full of loveable characters.” I just had to see for myself.

Made in Me has brought their enchanting interactive story into the BlackBerry PlayBook and the result quite nearly brought tears to our eyes.. My 3 boy’s Kellin (5), Oliver (5), Ashby (8), and I sat down and played through the stories first chapter over and over again.

The music, the visuals, the characters, their voices, it all makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Reading this with my children was unlike any mobile experience we’ve ever shared before. To be honest I was hesitant to even start buying these apps or installing .bars from the Developers. But I have a pretty keen eye for quality and remember getting a few gems back when the Apple Store first launched. Now seeing this type of material on the PlayBook tablet in my children’s hands just warms my heart.

I’ve never experienced anything quite like this before. The Land of Me was developed by child development experts with a lot of emphasis on enriching your child’s language and early literacy. In this version you’ll discover the first of many chapters titled “Shape, Size & Colour” where your child can create Monsters, Animals and Vehicles while listening to the narrative of Yama-San (a Japanese snow monkey) who will teach them to harness the power of their imagination.

Watching my boys play with this interactive story brings us all together. I highly recommend it for anyone with children of any age. Get more info about Made in Me here http://madeinme.com/. The application is only $1.99, includes the first chapter Shape, Size & Colour with more coming soon!
