Twitter for BlackBerry v3.1.0.8 beta supports devices running OS 5.0, 6.0, 7.0 & 7.1
This client has come a long way in my opinion. The newest beta version 3.1.0.8 has just introduced some very attractive new tweet detail screens. Total list of updates below.
New features of Twitter for BlackBerry smartphones 3.1 include:
- Updated Tweet Details Screen
- Undo Retweet
- Right to Left Language Support
- Additional Languages – Finnish, Arabic & Hebrew
I still remember when tweeting from a BlackBerry was primarily only done using UberTwitter [UberSoc] or SocialScope. There really weren’t any other options for consumers. And only Uber was open to everyone. Later we would all cheer when RIM launched Twitter for BlackBerry and sent out a limited email with the details on how to download the early version of the app.
Somehow I had paid the dues and was given that very email. The early version was cute, simple and gave me that BlackBerry tingle all over. The client lacked a lot of the stuff that we could do on 3rd party clients however. So for many it was and remained a secondary client. Now with Cascades, BlackBerry 10 and the biggest changes coming to every app you and I have come accustomed too, RIM is reaching out to offer a more feature rich client.
Fast forward to the last year or so and now Twitter for BlackBerry is the first client I go to. Sure it’s not available for the BlackBerry Tablets yet. But give me a handful of smartphones and I’ll choose Twitter for BlackBerry almost every time.
