Good friend and big contributor @SamgbxDesigns pointed out Velvet, the latest theme from pioneer developers Elecite. Damn, it’s just another reminder that RIM has some of the most talented designers behind their products.
Velvet looks delicious. It is however only compatible with OS 4.6 to 6.0. Specific devices can be found in the tags below or the theme itself in BlackBerry App World.

Maybe we’ll get some great news soon about Theme Studio for BlackBerry 7.x OS. We hope. Even with bugs in the software, most Theme Builders have been able to work around them, support one another in the RIM Support Forums, form groups on BBM, GroupMe, etc.
Unfortunately there’s some users that just don’t like themes. That’s fine, but the guys who are telling RIM to ditch the entire culture and focus on the future of RIM are basically telling RIM to toss a whole culture. The idea of letting users give their smartphone a real personality. Look at what teams like Elecite have done over the last few years. Themes that make your phone a fresh brand new feel.
Every icon skinned, different panels, shortcuts to Media, Social Networks and more. Sorry Windows Phone 7 is cool, sure. But We can build our own with BlackBerry Theme Studio if RIM updates and supports the software.
Elecite tends to every aspect of the environment with their latest. Just one of these screenshots had me sold. Having a BlackBerry with the look of some popular new Android device, yet customized to the needs of a BlackBerry user, sounds like a full circle win to me.
Now that I’ve gone off on a few tangents, sorry to say I couldn’t try and review this theme myself. But after using and loving close to 50 other Elecite themes, I can take a stab and say your probably going to love this one. Priced at $6.99, it that’s out of your range please don’t leave negative comments. We will and continue to cater to everyone’s comfort zones!
